Description
Disconnecting the control input (SP) activates braking. The DC voltage set by the phase control potentiometer, is then applied across the motor winding. This voltage creates a magnetic field which induces an alternating current in the rotating rotor winding which inhibits the rotor’s rotation, thereby braking the drive.

The motor brake operates as a direct-current brake. It can be used for three-phase and alternating current asynchronous motors with auxiliary phase (capacitor). Electronic motor braking modules are also wear-free compared to mechanical brakes. Electronic brake-equipped switchgear cannot be connected to generators, emergency generating sets, power generators or electrical mains converters.
